Director/Executive Editor Peggy Boyer Long

Peggy Boyer Long is executive editor of Illinois Issues magazine and director of Center Publications, Center for State Policy and Leadership. She is responsible for editorial content, financing, staffing and the magazine's advisory board. Peggy received a master's in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master's in public history from Sangamon State University, now the University of Illinois at Springfield. She teaches a graduate course in critical and persuasive writing for journalists in the Public Affairs Reporting program at UIS. She has taught graduate journalism classes in the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Evanston, and at Columbia College in Chicago. Peggy twice served as Statehouse bureau chief for WUIS public radio in Springfield and the Illinois Public Radio Network (1975-78 and 1989-91). She has written about state government and politics for such publications as Chicago magazine and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. She is a contributing author of The Illinois Governors: Mostly Good and Competent Men, second edition. Peggy is a member of the board of directors of the Illinois Center for the Book. She became the magazine's editor in 1994.
